According to Article 1352 of the Civil Code, “an industrial design is the solution for the appearance of an industrial or handicraft product.” In other words, an industrial design represents the decorative or aesthetic aspect of a product. In some countries, the term “design” is used instead. It could be an attractive label, original packaging, or an unusual — or simply appealing — shape of almost any product.
